Psychology at GAU: Professional & Research

GAU psychology offers two specializations: A research focus that builds skills for research in lifespan development, social interactions, cognition, clinical conditions or brain physiology. And an applied focus, providing training for clinical, counseling & other professions.

GAU was founded in 1985 as an independent, non-profit institution, providing an American-style higher education. GAU encourages scholarships, engages in community services, and empowers others to become responsible citizens in an interdependent, pluralistic, global community.

Girne American University is located in the picturesque and lively Mediterranean coastal town of Girne (Kyrenia) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) - in Turkish Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti (KKTC). It is only a half an hour drive from Lefkosa international airport. It is a part of the world that is both beautiful and steeped in history.

We are a relatively new and dynamic department and our team is steadily growing, bringing together both Cypriot and international teaching experience and world class research.
